Though best known for winter sports, Portes du Soleil offers a huge range of outdoor activities all year round. Whilst spring is good for walking and enjoying the wild flowers on the mountain slopes, the summer offers a huge range of more active or exciting pursuits including: tennis, golf, swimming, hiking, mountain biking, white water rafting, rock climbing, tree walking, fishing, canoeing, paragliding, paintball, hot air ballooning, fantasticable, devil carts, summer luge, quad bikes, and so on. 
Being in the mountains takes the sting out of the summer heat. The mountain air is very clean and refreshing.
There are a number of festivals, carnivals and events throughout the year in the local villages, including: fireworks on the lake at Montriond; the amazing biannual Harley Days in Morzine; and in Les Gets, the festival of wood and marching band competition. There are also several markets in the area.
